The Bovine RC5 Cracking
Effort At Chipsworld! What is RC5 anyways?
Basically, RC5 is a bunch of computer users trying to meet the challenge issued by RSA in an attempt to crack an encrypted message to show the government that current data encryption is not heavy enough encryption for standardization.Who is Team Beerths?
Chipper and Pete administer the team known as "Team Beerths". We both like good beer and figured that could be a rallying point, to show that us beer drinking people meant something in the world of geekdom.
You can find us on EfNet IRC as EA & AldE. We've both been in the effort from the GenX days.
Chipper currently runs a couple full proxies, aliased as rc5proxy.llamas.net
Pete runs two, alde.com and alpaca.llamas.net
Mike Goldman, another team member, put up a page that you can use to join Team beerths.
If you join the team and let us know and we win the prize, we'll split it among the registered people contributing to Team Beerths. Why are you doing this?
Total geek factor. Well, just being part of the largest distributed network and working towards more stringent encrytion standards is also a good thing(tm).
